Back to the nightmare mornings of said child refusing to get dressed and the return of groundhog mum again! The peace didn’t last long. On the note of nightmares I had a nightmare last night, my first one since I started writing. Anyway on to the subject in hand.
So on Tuesday morning I was dropping the little miss at school and one of the other mums dropped the bombshell on me that the school has a dress up day planned this week. FML its Wednesday and I still have no idea what I’m going to do.
Anyone else find these the bane of your life? Or is it just me? Do you all love it when the school drops it on you that in 4 days time it’s dress up? Or is it other schools are more organised then ours? That said it could be me that’s missed it on the school newsletter (it wouldn’t be the first time)
So on Friday its nautical dress up day, where, what and how am I supposed to sort this when I’m at work all week? Not only that but the summer stuff is now no longer in the shops, its all winter stuff, and her summer stuff no longer fits her. I’m seriously considering sending her in her swim suit and shorts (The Mr said swimsuit and arm bands). But I can’t its too cold.
I could send her as a fish or an octopus, just paint it on some card and stick it round her neck …………………. nope she wont go for any of those they are not girly enough. Maybe a mermaid!? but then I have to find the time to make a dam mermaid costume. GRRRRRRR
What do I do? Could I send her in my nautical dress up?????? NO NO I can’t, that’s just wrong (although I have seen this done before, shockingly).
Considering our head teacher works full time I’m surprised she’s not more understanding and considerate to the families where both parents also work full time. Not saying I would but had I been given this in the school dates at the start of the school year I could have been prepared! Who am I kidding I’d still be in the same situation as I am now. I’m already in the bad books as I forgot about the pumpkin carving competition, the little miss is not going to let me forget about that for a while.
Maybe I should start a business where we live, I could stock all of the weird and wonderful dress up ideas for children and hire them out to all the desperate parents like myself. Now that is a thought.
I’ve already got a shelf full of various dress up’s that I’ve spent forever making/creating for them to only be worn once and forgotten about. I sent the Mr on a mission to find something for her today, which hasn’t gone well at all. It seems all the other parents have beaten us to it and have snapped up anything remotely nautical.
Why can’t we have a works dress up day? I could always get a job in Claire’s accessories, they seem to have a dress up day every day of the week.
